What is The Army Cadet Force?

The Army Cadet Force is the army's voluntary youth organisation for young people between the ages of 12 and 18. It has been successfully helping young people in their development for over 125 years. It is one of the country's leading youth organisations, and is run on military style guidelines so a certain amount of discipline is to be expected. There is a standard training syllabus (Army Proficiency Certificate APC) that the Cadets follow, additionally many other courses and activities are available to them. The training syllabus consists of four progressive levels, and each level's training consists of Drill, Skill at Arms, Map Reading, Fieldcraft, Shooting, First Aid, Physical Training, Expedition and Citizenship Training. Various additional courses are available to the cadets depending on their interests and skills, and in addition to the training syllabus, we also operate the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme (which is closely linked to our training syllabus). You can read more about Army Cadet Force training here.

Cadets can take part in many adventurous activities such as watermanship, hill walking, abseiling & rock climbing, and there are opportunities to take part in sporting events and competitions up to national level.

The Army Cadet Force Charter can be found here.
